About Us - Instructor Profiles

Kate Hedges

Kate is the lead instructor and director of Blue Skies. She is an experienced and qualified facilitator in outdoor and environmental education. Trained in North America in the Old Ways rekindled by Tom Brown Jr. at the WOLF School of Natural Science, she is dedicated to learning and teaching these rare and mostly lost skills. Experienced in working with both children and adults for a variety of organisations she is fully qualified in first aid, health and safety, and hillwalking.

Anna Wright

Anna is a qualified secondary school teacher with a passion for being in nature. Her sensitive and caring personality combined with a sense of fun and pure joy for life, are some of the reasons children love her. Anna has 4 years experience of learning and teaching the Earth Skills to others, and is most involved in the annual 10 day Youth Camp offered by Blue Skies.

George Jamieson

George is a 51 year old Edinburgh taxidermist. He is qualified as a Mountain Leader and works as a part-time instructor for a Survival School in the Brecon Beacons. He has a lifelong interest in wildlife and animal behaviour, and a strong desire to let others see the beauty and reality of the natural world and to try and instill in them an interest in preserving the wilderness and to learn a respect for it.
